About Good News

We love having the Good News of Jesus at the centre of everything we do. Quite simply, Jesus is brilliant news and we want to be good news too.

Missional

Jesus claimed that all authority in heaven and earth was his, and then he told us to go. We believe that the mission of Christ to reach out to our community, and we are called to reach Chesterfield with the Good News about Jesus.

The Church as a Family

Word

The Bible is fundamental to everything we do – we love hearing from the Scriptures and how everything ultimately leads to Jesus. We want to do everything we can to equip people to enjoy it for themselves, treasure the Good News it contains and communicate its message in a way that’s relevant to their culture and their every day life.

Spirit

We want to see people living Spirit-empowered lives – growing more like Jesus, enjoying his presence and living for him.

Church

We aim to be faithful to the vision of church life described in the New Testament. We want to be a church that is built on genuine relationships, and that serves and reaches out to those who don’t know Jesus. As a part of that, we meet on a Sunday morning for gathered worship, but that is only ever a part of what the New Testament pictures being a Christian to be. As well as Sunday mornings, we view our missions work and our small groups as key to who we are as a Christian community.

Mission

We believe God has called us to be a blessing in every part of our society, using our skills and passions for the common good to reach the least and the last and the lost in Chesterfield. And we also want to take the good news of Jesus to the nations of the world, particularly to unreached people groups. Both of these are crucial to our understanding of mission.
